Learning objectives

Students will be introduce with the theoretical principles and practice of agglomeration of fine sized products as final stage in many operations of mineral processing.

Learning outcomes

Students will be able to participate independently or in a team in research and practice in production of pellets, briquettes, agglomerates of various materials in the economy, as well as to acquire qualifications for continuing studies in this field.

Course contents

Definition and classification of agglomeration. Products for agglomeration. Briquetting - definition, classification, theoretical aspects. Raw materials for briquetting. Briquetting operations. Description and schemes of briquetting procedures. Parameters of the briquetting process. Briquette quality parameters. Binders in briquetting - role, classification, properties. Machines and devices for briquetting. Briquetting of coal - processes from industrial practice. Pelletization – definition, classification, theoretical aspects. Pelletization operations. Properties of materials for pelletization. Binders in pelletization. Properties of pellets. Pelletizing machines and devices. Pellet hardening procedures. Pelletization of coal and iron concentrate.
