Termička svojstva dentina i zubne gleđi utiču na brzinu odgovora nervnog sistema zuba na promene temperature kojima je zub svakodnevno izložen. Osim čvrstoće i estetskih zahtjeva, veštački zubni materijali moraju da obezbede i sličnu termičku zaštitu pulpe zuba.
