Botany, Dendrology, Genetics with plant breeding
Passed exam
Teaching in the subject Forest Phytopathology is important for the purpose of introducing students to the basic characteristics of forest tree diseases, the biology of pathogenic organisms, the method of combating these organisms and protecting forests in order to increase the production of quality wood and preserve forest
ecosystem.
Complete ability of students to recognize pathogens and recommend appropriate measures to combat parasitic diseases in forests.
Theoretical teaching. Introduction; the importance of plant diseases for forestry; definition and classification of diseases; Symptomatology. Phytopathogenic fungi: basics of thallus morphology, fruiting bodies and reproductive organs; physiology of fungi, source of nutrition, types of parasitism, pathogenic properties, life cycle and reproductive power. The influence of the most important environmental factors on the development of pathogens
microorganisms and the appearance of epiphytocia and the establishment of biological balance in the ecosystem called the forest. Susceptibility, resistance and immunity of plants to pathogenic agents. Phytopathogenic bacteria: main characteristics of phytopathogenic bacteria. Phytopathogenic viruses: properties of viruses and basic symptoms of viruses. Basics of herbal prophylaxis and therapy: principles and methods of combating phytopathogenic microorganisms; plant resistance and selection for resistance as a form of indirect measure of the fight against plant diseases.
Practical teaching. Pathogenic (parasitic) fungi causing mycoses: Phylum Ascomycota, Phylum Basidiomycota, Phylum Oomycota and collective groups Fungi imperfecti (Deuteromycetes). Getting to know the morphological characteristics of fungi and the possibility of determining the cause of the disease. Fundamentals of systematics of fungi.
