The subject of Botany II is prerequisited by the subject of Botany I.

Form of prerequisites:

Passed the final exam in Botany I.

Learning objectives

Introducing students to the basic principles of systematics of mushrooms, lichens and vascular plants.

Learning outcomes

The knowledge gained in the subject of Botany II includes an understanding of the division of the living world, especially kingdom Planta., which will provide students with the basis for mastering related subjects (Dendrology, Phytocenology).

Course contents

Introduction to systematics. Methods of phylogenetic systematics and division of the living world. The Fungi kingdom. LICHENES. The Plantae kingdom. Bryophyta division. Division Lycopodiophyta. Division Equisetophyta. Division Polypodiophyta. Division Pinophyta. Division Magnoliophyta.

Evaluation and grading

The knowledge test is carried out in writing and orally. There are colloquiums and tests in progress. Semester. It is mandatory to pass individual students herbarium. The final exam is taken practically (exercises) and oral (lectures).

Teaching Methods

Lectures, field classes, laboratory exercises, consultations.

Specific remarks:

Students are obliged to collect individual herbarium containing at least 100 different plant species, of which 10 woody and the remaining number of herbaceous species are allowed. Exams of herbaria are taken separately , in the form of species recognition by random selection of teachers/associates.
During the semester, field classes are organized.
