The basic objective of the course is to acquaint the mining students with the basics and principles of the ventilation systems in mines with underground and surface exploitation as well as facilities and equipment for mine ventilation.
Practical and technical knowledge-training in the design, sizing and design of mine ventilation systems with underground and surface exploitation. Comprehensive review of technological proces of mine ventilation including knowledge of the optimal choices of equipment and devices within the mine ventilation system.
Basics of mine ventilation. Atmospheric and mine air. Toxic, explosive and stuffy gases. Radioactive pollutants. Dust in the air.
Climatic conditions in mines and the influencing factors.
Natural ventilation of mines. Emerging and influencing factors.
Mechanical ventilation in mines. Collaborative fan operation: serial, parallel, combined. Working under the fire conditions. The effect of natural depression on ventilator operation.
Separate ventilation in mines. Calculations of the compression and depression modes of ventilation.
Air movement through the mining roadways. The establishing of airflow. The basic laws of mine aerodynamics. Aerodynamic resistances. Equivalent mine opening.

Seminar work, tests I and II, final exam
Classes are through theoretical lectures, computational exercises, seminar work, and tests. Also for students are provided as an additional form of learning and consultation with the teacher and assistant.
Students are required to attend to the classes, complete exercises, pass the tests and complete the final exam.
