Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to introduce students with the classification of polymer materials according to types of materials, their properties and their application, and to introduce them to mogućim načinima recikliranja recycling

Learning outcomes

Solve recycling problems using combining the acquired expert knowledge from the field of chemistry, solid waste management, as well as knowledge about the properties of natural and synthetic polymeric materials. Evaluate polymer products from the perspective of environmental effects and environmental impact on the product.

Course contents

Basic concepts and benefits from recycling polymer materials; Categories of polymeric waste and their characteristics; Environmental influence on polymeric materials; Collection, identification and separation of polymer waste; Possibilities of managing polymeric materials after use; Mechanical recycling, primary and secondary, Chemical recycling, pyrolysis, hydrolysis, gasification; Utilization of waste polymer materials for energy purposes; Use of recycled polymer materials

Evaluation and grading

Written and oral exam. Writing and presenting a seminar paper on a given topic
