Learning objectives

Understanding the relevant thematic areas of social work and social policy in modern society; critical analysis of recent doctrines; understanding the characteristics of current social policy and social work in the Republic of Srpska.

Learning outcomes

Understanding of current processes and changes in the field of social policy and in the field of social work at the national, local, regional and global level; Understanding and explaining the current social situation; Direct and active participation in reforms and design of special social programs; Professional competence for their successful mission, not only in the areas of social work and social policy, but also in society in general.

Course contents

Basic conceptual and categorical inventory of social policy and social work; Elaboration of principles and values ​​of social policy, factors and modern models or regimes of social policy, Critical analysis of contemporary theoretical perspectives of social policy and social work; Current reform processes and changes in social work and social policy at the national, regional and global levels - parallel trends and constant differences; Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the social policy of the Republika Srpska from the aspect of exercising the social rights of citizens, current social contradictions, as well as a comparative overview of the achieved social goals of the RS and the surrounding countries; Specifics of social work, characteristics, assumptions, principles, normative legal basis and problems and difficulties that modern social work faces in the Republic of Srpska.
