Learning objectives

Studying the development of architecture in order to use the experience accumulated over several thousand years construction history. The main goal is to acquire knowledge about the development of architecture and settlements during prehistory and antiquity.

Learning outcomes

Acquiring basic knowledge about the emergence and development of architecture in certain social contexts, about creation and types of settlements, spatial organization, constructive assemblies and construction techniques, stylistic features and their transformation in accordance with the aesthetic and technical

An introduction to the history of architecture. Architectural production in Prehistory. Architecture of ancient Egypt. Mesopotamian architecture. Persian architecture. Architecture of the Aegean civilizations. Architecture of ancient Greece. Architecture of ancient Rome. The first forms of settlement in prehistory. Settlement in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Persia. Urban planning and settlement types of Cretan-Mycenaean culture and ancient Greece.
